About
At 17 years old, Leah Kim Keyes is quickly establishing herself as an emerging artist in the flute world. She performed as a soloist with the Utah Symphony at age 16 during its 64th Annual Salute to Youth concert. In early 2024, she was awarded Grand Prize in the Southwest Symphony Young Artist Competition, where she performed the Gordeli Concerto for Flute and Orchestra.
Leah's other concerto appearances include performances with the Utah Philharmonic, West Jordan Symphony, Lyceum Symphony, and the Orchestra of Southern Utah, the latter as a recipient of the Halversen Young Artist Award.
Leah began her flute studies at age 9 with Nancy Toone and currently studies with Catherine Boyack of New York City. She recently attended the world-renowned Interlochen Arts Camp in the summer of 2025. Her coaches there noted her “highly trained focus,” “remarkable combination of experience and natural ability,” and the rare quality of “elevating the notes into art.”
Leah is a ten-time Utah Flute Association Sonata Competition first-place winner, a four-time State MTNA Solo Division winner, and a four-time State UMTA Concerto Competition winner. She serves as principal flutist in the Woods Cross High School Wind Ensemble, Davis Youth Philharmonic, and Lyceum Symphony in Salt Lake City.
